In three of the kingdoms, there is a 15% chance a bird that lands on Mario's nose will be replaced with a rarer variant instead. These do not occur naturally in the environment and are nose-exclusive. In Super Mario Odyssey, whenever Mario stays idle long enough to fall asleep, if he does it in an area where birds naturally occur (i.e. not indoors or in a kingdom with no birds), a bird will eventually land on his nose. In the Wooded, Metro and Mushroom Kingdoms only, there is a 15% chance for the birds to be a rare altemate variation instead: Common Wooded Kingdom Blue Jay 85% Common Mushroom Kingdom White Bird 85% Common Metro Kingdom Female Rock Dove 85% Note the iridescent neck and banded wing Rare Wooded Kingdom Bluer Jay 15% Rare Mushroom Kingdom Ringed-Eye Bird 15% Rare Metro Kindom Male Rock Dove 15% The chance percentage has been datamined directly from the game's code.
