About

/co/ is a 4chan's board dedicated to comics and cartoons discussion. Since its creation, it has grown to become one of the biggest comics and cartoons discussion boards on the English-speaking Internet. Users of the board are commonly referred to as /co/mrades.

History

/co/ was added to 4chan's selection of boards on April 6, 2006 alongside /po/ (Papercraft & Origami) and /sp/ (Sports). The board was later spun off into the board /mlp/ in 2012 as a containment for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic threads.^[1]

A /co/verse is the name given to a universe created by /co/ users. These /co/verses contain many characters which are popular on the board, such as /con/rad and Leggy Lamb. There are several websites which catalog /co/verse, including "The /co/nservatory Wiki" and "The /co/llection booru".^[2][3]

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a 2010 cartoon based on the My Little Pony franchise produced by Hasbro. The show was initially followed semi-ironically on /co/ until it began to produce actual fans, who were dubbed "bronies". My Little Pony threads became so frequent on /co/ that the /mlp/ board was created for them in 2012 in an effort to curb their overabundance on /co/.

60s Spider-Man

60s Spider-Man is a series of image macros based on odd-looking still frames taken from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon. The meme originally started on /co/ before branching out to other websites.

Hexafusions

Hexafusions are illustrations which create an original composite character using three previously existent characters. The trend began on /co/ in November of 2013.

It Was Me, Barry!

It Was Me, Barry! is a line associated with the Flash character Professor Zoom. The line is often used in petty contexts to parody the character. Posting the line is sometimes refered to as "Zoomposting".

Handsome Face is an exploitable image of Superman taken from the 2010 film Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.

Magneto Was Right / Rightclops

Magneto Was Right is a meme used on /co/ to describe how they believe that Magneto's method of dealing with humans in the Marvel universe is the correct way. It spawned Cyclops Was Right and in tandem, the term Rightclops.
