Amy Rouge refers to a fan-made mod of Sonic Adventure 2 in which the character Rouge the Bat is replaced with the character. The swap led to a bevy of fan art blending the two characters.

Origin

On January 9th, Twitter user @SPEEPShighway^[1] posted that she had created a mod which swapped Rouge for Amy in Sonic Adventure 2 cutscenes, gaining over 3,000 retweets and 18,000 likes (shown below). They also released the mod on GameBanana.^[2]

Spread

The post grew popular on Twitter, particularly after the official Sonic Twitter account^[3] retweeted it, gaining over 11,000 retweets and 67,000 likes (shown below, left). The mod also inspired a deluge of fan art combining the characters. For example, user @CuteyTCat^[4] posted art that gained over 270 retweets and 1,300 likes (shown below, right).

The fan art also spread to Reddit, where several pieces gained hundreds of upvotes on /r/SonicTheHedgehog, including pieces by pinksoetko^[5] (600 points, shown below, left) and awrhello^[6] (290 points, shown below, right).
