About

Bacon Hair/Bacons refers to a community nickname for players that use the Pal Hair, a free hair accessory on Roblox. Usage of the meme is quite widespread, ranging from image macros to whole animations revolving around the accessory's users. Several tropes surround them, the most prominent ones being that they are exploiters or alt accounts.

History

On October 14th, 2011, Roblox uploaded a hair accessory to the avatar shop titled 'Pal Hair'. It originally cost 90 Robux for people who joined before June 24, 2014, female players, or Xbox One players. However, on November 6th, 2018, a 'possible error' caused the accessory to become free for said users, and Roblox didn't revert it to its original price.

Default Avatar

Players who joined after June 24, 2014 and set their gender to male had their avatar equipped with the Pal Hair. This is where the vast majority of memes and tropes surrounding the hair originate from. Bacon Hairs are closely associated with exploiters, due to their alt accounts commonly being Bacons. Another notable trope is that Bacons are 'noobs' that have recently signed up to the site and suck at games. To the contrary, many 'tryhards' and 'sweats' also use the avatar as a way to fool players.

Spread

The first meme involving the Bacon Hair is currently unknown, however it can be safely assumed it would've been shortly after it became the default avatar for males. MyUsernamesThis, a Roblox Jailbreak YouTuber was responsible for a major part of the meme's propagation, as he was extremely popular in the Roblox YouTube community at the time and used the avatar in almost all of his videos. ObliviousHD, a well known animator in the community has also contributed to the meme, as he has made a 4 part animation series titled 'The Bacon Hair', as well as Bacons making many cameos and even having major roles in his other notable animations such as 'The Last Guest'. Other more modern YouTubers such as Sebee, MoFlare and Craxel have also contributed to the meme's continued virality.
