Billie Eilish Concert Screen Glitch refers to a viral video from a Billie Eilish concert in which the digital screen behind her accidentally flashed a car video when she was singing the song "when the party's over." Eilish then laughed and said, "What the fuck!" After the original video was uploaded to TikTok in September 2022, a meme creator replaced the glitch video with an animated cat shoving its face into a food bowl. More creators replaced the glitch video with themselves after a TikTok filter was created in October 2022.

Origin

On September 14th, 2022, TikToker^[1] chaaarrr__ posted a video that she took at a Billie Eilish concert during her performance of the song, "when the party's over." TikToker chaaarrr__ wrote in text overlay, "When the screen glitches out," in reference to the large, digital screen behind Eilish accidentally playing a graphic of a car racing during the solemn performance. Over the course of one month, the video received roughly 1.3 million plays and 283,800 likes (shown below, left). On September 17th, 2022, TiKToker^[2] divyananwani posted a video of the same moment from a different angle, gaining roughly 645,200 plays and 48,900 likes in one month (shown below, right).

Billie Eilish Screen Glitch with Cat Video

On September 26th, 2022, TikToker^[3] onlyjayusa posted a video that re-edited chaaarrr__'s original TikTok, adding in their own animation of a cat shoving its face into its food bowl repeatedly. Over the course of 17 days, the video received roughly 20.7 million plays and 4.5 million likes (shown below). The video is also the first known green-screen re-edit of the original.

On October 2nd, 2022, TikToker^[4] filtersbyjulia posted a video in which she green-screened herself into the Billie Eilish screen glitch, gaining roughly 1.4 million plays and 52,800 likes in 11 days (shown below, left). TikToker filtersbyjulia green-screened herself using her own TikTok filter^[5] called "billies concert by julia." The filter gained lots of usage going into October 2022. For instance, on October 10th, 2022, TikToker^[6] giomars_ posted a video showing himself flaring his nostrils behind Eilish, gaining roughly 7.9 million plays and 1.7 million likes in three days (shown below, right).
