Burger Twitter or Burgertwt, also known as Burger Posting, is a series of X / Twitter posts making absurd jokes about burgers, sometimes using the hashtag "#burgertwt." The hashtag has been used informally on X since as early as January 2021 in posts relating to burgers. It was popularized as the subject of memes in late January and early February 2026, inspiring numerous viral posts using the word "burger" as a punchline to often nonsensical jokes and pieces of art featuring burgers.

Origin

The earliest known X^[1] post to use the hashtag "#burgertwt" was posted by user @AJ_Kuzunoha on January 24th, 2021, writing, "gm burger sama #burgertwt," garnering no interactions in five years.

The hashtag was used a second time on January 30th, by X^[2] user @trixxinus, who posted artwork of Minecraft YouTubers SlimeCicle and Tommyinnit eating burgers, writing, "im burger!! is #burgertwt a thing?" garnering around 35 likes in five years.

January 2026 Virality

In late January 2026 through early February, burgertwt posts and posts about burgers in general became increasingly popularized on X / Twitter as numerous users began sharing burger-related content on the platform.

On January 24th, 2026, X^[3] user @lerksfw posted "burger" along with a piece of My Little Pony fan art showing Twilight Sparkle eating a burger, garnering over 2,100 likes in about two weeks.

On January 28th, X^[4][5] user @sanguinelycoris made two posts taking the credit for popularizing burgertwt, claiming that it came from a private Discord group and is based on the character Ruto from Gachiakuta.

On January 29th, 2026, X^[6] user @SiliGremlin posted a photo of a dog with a burger on its head, writing, "Got,,, burger on my mind,," garnering over 53,000 likes and 6,300 reposts in five days.

On February 1st, X^[7] user and musical artist @dev_lemons posted, "burger eyes burgerlize burger lies," garnering over 28,000 likes in two days.

On February 2nd, 2026, X^[8] user @fawnncel quoted a 2011 Charlie Kirk tweet reading, "4 burgers. #notenough #yum," writing, "No way charlie was on dat burger shit before all of us bruh," garnering over 18,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[9] user and musical artist @bbnomula posted, "I don’t need a gf i need burger," garnering over 8,300 likes in a day.
