About

The Demon Pose Challenge is an internet challenge on TikTok set to Krypto9095's "Whoa" in which participants get on their hands and knees and arch their backs progressively lower to the ground every time the word "whoa" is sung, ending in the "demon pose" with their face against the ground and posterior in the air. The challenge became popularized on TikTok in December 2022. The pose and challenge are similar to the Jack-O Crouch Challenge.

Origin

The earliest known video of someone performing the demon pose challenge was posted by TikToker[1] @miss.colette96 on August 25th, 2020, garnering over 935,000 views in two years. The trend didn't become popularized on the app until two years later in late November and early December 2022. For example, on December 1st, 2022, TikToker[2] @tiktokingtori posted a video doing the demon pose challenge, garnering over 8 million views in three weeks (shown below).

The challenge became increasingly popularized over the following weeks under the same original sound and the hashtag "#demonposechallenge." On December 13th, 2022, TikToker[3] @damnjaydeagain posted a video doing the challenge that garnered over 14 million views in a week (shown below, left).
