Kissing Prank Reaction Videos are videos in which a person is tricked or persuaded into kissing while being secretly recorded without their knowledge.

Origin

On October 26th, 2006, YouTuber i Felix uploaded a video titled "Kissing Test," in which several young women are fooled into kissing chimpanzees for a lip balm commercial (shown below). In the first seven years, the video gained over 4.49 million views and 1,400 comments.

Spread

Few new prank videos were posted online until December 10th, 2011, when YouTuber masterchief9696 uploaded a video featuring high school students fooled into kissing their parents while blindfolded (shown below, left). In the following three years, the video garnered upwards of 1.86 million views and 6,500 comments. On December 12th, 2012, YouTuber Stuart Edge uploaded a video featuring people tricked into kissing under a piece of mistletoe (shown below, right). In the next 10 months, the video gathered more than 23.3 million views and 23,400 comments.

On January 10th, 2013, YouTube RossCreations uploaded a video in which he walks up to random people and kisses them on the cheek (shown below, left). On January 27th, YouTuber VitalyzdTv uploaded a kissing prank video in which he walks up to couples and asks if he can give them a kiss before revealing a Hershey's Kisses chocolate (shown below, right). Within nine months, the videos garnered over 3.05 million and 4.06 million views respectively.

On May 2nd, VitalyzdTv uploaded another kissing prank video in which he walks up to women and asks them three questions before kissing them on the lips (shown below, left). In the first five months, the video gained more than 19.6 million views and 64,900 comments. On October 16th, YouTuber Stuart Edge uploaded footage of men attempting to kiss women while wearing a pink shirt (shown below, right), which gathered upwards of 6.27 million views and 5,100 comments in the next week.
