Every Friend Group Got The Fujoshi, also known as Every Family Got The Fujoshi or Every Friend Group Got The X, refers to an exploitable meme and phrasal template that categorizes four characters, generally from the same piece of pop culture, into "Fujoshi," "Transgender Allegory," "Autistic Individual" and "Struggler." The format is generally completed with characters from anime but has been done with original characters and characters from Western live-action dramas as well.

Origin

In May 2023, a post saying, "Every friend group got the Fujoshi, Transgender Allegory, Autistic Individual and Struggler" using Nichijou characters began spreading on Tumblr. One early reblog of the post was by user bubblepunk99s^[1] on May 21st, 2023 (shown below). User fmet is credited as the original poster of the image, but the URL to their supposed source post links to a different image.^[2] The post gained over 12,000 notes in five months.

Spread

Over the following months, the format saw myriad iterations, often using characters from other anime IPs and video games. For example, on July 3rd, 2023, Redditor princenoel posted a Limbus Company variation to /r/TheOdysseyHadAPurpose,^[4] gaining over 470 points in nearly four months (shown below, left). On August 22nd, Redditor phiru_senpai posted an iteration using Project Sekai characters in /r/ProjectSekai,^[3] gaining over 370 points in two months (shown below, right).

Some users have utilized the format with more outlandish and Western IPs. For example, on August 9th, Twitter user @acquaticutopia^[5] posted a parody with characters from Malcolm in the Middle, gaining over 2,600 retweets and 11,000 likes in two months (shown below, left). On September 14th, Redditor Comedycallgirl1 posted a Succession example to /r/OkBuddySuccession,^[6] gaining over 170 points in one month (shown below, right).
