Fish Chicken Smoking a Cigarette refers to an image of a trout's head poking out of the torso of a chicken with a cigarette in its mouth. Due to its high potency of the WTF factor, the image has been widely passed around Internet humor sites.

Origin

The earliest known instance of the image was submitted by Redditor Gennycraig in a /r/WTF post titled "Smoked Chicken" on January 23rd, 2012. The post garnered 571 points prior to being archived.

Spread

Throughout 2012, the image was reposted to /r/WTF^{[1][2][4][6][7][8][9][10][12]} and /r/funny^{[3][5][11][13]} at least a dozen times. On February 16th, 2012, a Facebook page titled "Chicken fish smoking a cigarette" was created, which has a small following of 60 people. On January 27th, 2014, Meme Generator created a Chicken Fish Smoking gallery with 73 derivative instances.^[7] In May 2014, an Android mobile game app^[5] inspired by Flappy Bird was released. As of August 2016, a reverse image search on Karma Decay yields at least 24 unique Reddit posts featuring the image. Outside of Reddit, the image has been also circulating Twitter.
