GeForce NOW is an inside joke in the Half-Life Reddit and Twitter communities in which "GeForce NOW" is used inside of threads as a copypasta. Its branding is also edited onto Half-Life related images without any context.

Origin

On January 27th, 2026, Reddit^[1] user u/Level-Put5654 posted an AMA about playing Half-Life 2 on mobile. u/Waluigiiscoming^[2] asked "Why?", with the OP simply answering "Geforce now".

Spread

On January 28th, 2026, Reddit^[3] user u/Smooth_Pick_2103 posted the first derivative edit in the subreddit, receiving 20 upvotes in three days.

On the same day, 4 hours later, Reddit^[4] user u/Igotdowntothevmmvmm posted another edit in a similar format. The post received 125 upvotes in three days. 2 hours later, Reddit^[5] user u/Mahim2000 posted an edited version of the Half-Life 2 promo art which received over 330 upvotes in two days.

The format achieved viral popularity on the same day with the Reddit^[6] user u/yashg_1612 posting a version of the meme that received over 2,200 upvotes.

Starting on that day, the format saw significant spread on r/HalfLife.
