Hey, Nerd, I Kissed Your Girlfriend Last Night, also known by its punchline How Did My Cum Taste, is a comic by John Billette published in the pornography magazine Hustler in July 2017. In September 2021, the cartoon gained virality as the source material for edits in exploitable memes changing the caption or characters depicted.

Origin

The comic, officially titled "How to Deal with a Bully" and created by cartoonist John Billette, was published in the July 2017 issue of American pornography magazine Hustler^[1] (shown below).

On June 15th, 2020, iFunny^[2] user KenDrake5150 made the earliest known repost of the comic to go viral, with the image being featured on the app and gaining over 89,700 smiles in one year. On June 16th and 17th, 2020, Redditor^[2] primethoracic2 and iFunny^[3] user Mikey_Likes_It_ posted the earliest edits of the cartoon, gaining over 3,700 upvotes and 23 smiles in one year, respectively (shown below, left and right).

Spread

Prior to September 2021, the cartoon saw limited use in memes. For example, on September 27th, 2020, Redditor VermiIIion4438 posted an edit that received over 550 upvotes in /r/ComedyNecrophilia^[4] in six months (shown below, left). On July 30th, 2021, Twitter^[5] user @V3Expo posted a meme about Chris-Chan incest allegations, with the post not gaining any noteworthy traction (shown below, right).

The meme format achieved recognition after September 12th, 2021, when iFunny^[6] user amongUsHater posted a version of the meme with the dialogue recaptioned, "Hey, nerd – I kissed your mom last night!" The post gained over 21,900 smiles on the app in one month (shown below, left). On September 15th, 2021, Redditor ricardomilos0901 reposted the image to the /r/HolUp^[7] subreddit, where it accumulated nearly 60,000 upvotes in one month.

The viral spread of the post in the following days prompted more versions of the meme to be posted online, with the format achieving particular virality in the /r/ComedyNecrophilia subreddit. For example, on September 19th, 2021, Twitter^[8] user @ZeroT_H posted a Chris-Chan version of the meme that gained over 550 retweets and 5,400 likes in one month (shown below, center). On October 4th, 2021, Redditor Toocoo4you posted a collection of 13 memes based on the template that gained over 8,300 upvotes in /r/ComedyNecrophilia^[9] (example shown below, right).
