Hrothgar Make Condom is a meme which comes from a viral tweet about a portion of official artwork of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. The tweet led to several works of fanart of the Hrothgar character.
Origin
The official artwork was made by Kenta Tanaka and posted on various gaming news sites on September 16th, 2019, for Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers' 5.1 update, which improved crafting and introduced the Ishgardian Restoration (shown below).[1] In the bottom right of the artwork a Hrothgar character is seen sitting at a crafting anvil and holding a squarish object with a set of tongs.
On July 22nd, 2020, Twitter user noxidoxor (formerly jaraderg) posted a cropped portion of the artwork of just the crafting Hrothgar along with the text "Hrothgar make condom" (shown below).[2] The tweet received over 13,000 likes and over11,000 retweets.
