Louisoix Leveilleur's Last Moments is a scene taken from the opening cinematic for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in which Leveilleur is swallowed by a Terraflare, smiling before he is engulfed. The scene is often given various captions in which one might peacefully accept their death. .

Origin

The opening cinematic trailer was posted to YouTube on November 11th, 2012, and depicted the final events between FFXIV Legacy, and FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.^[1]

In the cinematic, Louisoix attempts to seal Bahamut back into the lesser moon, Dalamud. Although he fails in the attempt, he manages to safely seal away the Warriors of Light in an Aetherial rift before he is engulfed by Bahamut's Terraflare (shown below).

Spread of the moment as a meme was aided by the moment being turned into a GIF around 2014 (shown below).

Starting in roughly 2020, the GIF began being paired with captions describing scenarios where one might accept their death. On March 18th, 2020, iFunny^[2] user RectumRaiderRequiem posted a meme with the GIF that gained over 6,400 likes (shown below, left). On September 5th, Redditor BonixoHD posted a meme with the GIF to /r/dankmemes,^[3] gaining over 16,000 points (shown below, right).
