On April 1st, 2023, the YouTuber Oxytocin09^[1] uploaded the first example of the meme, with the scene being shown but on-screen captions showing it being used as a Me When style of meme, earning 6,000 views in two months (shown below).

The format stayed dormant until it was uploaded to TikTok on May 4th, 2023, by TikToker @bmstofmyheart^[2] as part of the ongoing Taylor Swift drama relating to Matty Healy and their relationship, stating that the rumors of their dating are enough to make her want to buy a gun (shown below).

The audio quickly took hold on the platform over the following days, being used in various contexts, with two main ones emerging by the end of the month. For example, on May 22nd, TikToker @taymccomish^[3] uploaded an example of the first main format in which the person wanting to buy the gun is specifically mad at a family member, with little deviation from the original context, earning over 1.1 million likes in one month (shown below).

On May 31st, 2023, TikToker @eellamoe^[4] uploaded an example of the second primary usage of the viral audio, relating it to their school life. This TikTok format deviates from the original context but still maintains the sarcastically violent themes by stating in the caption that next year at school would be harder, hence the need to buy a gun, earning over 970,000 likes in one month (shown below).
