I Need To Buy A Gun is a viral TikTok audio sound that comes from the Paramount+ show Why Women Kill. The audio, with the original context being a woman who was trying to buy a gun to kill her husband, is typically used on TikTok in lip-dub skits as a reaction or solution to First World Problems or to make jokes about suicide presented in on-screen text.

The original scene comes from the ninth episode of the first season of Why Women Kill in which the character Beth Ann is trying and successfully acquires a gun with the express purpose of killing her husband.

On April 1st, 2023, the YouTuber Oxytocin09^[1] uploaded the first example of the meme, with the scene being shown but on-screen captions showing it being used as a Me When style of meme, earning 6,000 views in two months (shown below).

On May 31st, 2023, TikToker @eellamoe^[4] uploaded an example of the second primary usage of the viral audio, relating it to their school life. This TikTok format deviates from the original context but still maintains the sarcastically violent themes by stating in the caption that next year at school would be harder, hence the need to buy a gun, earning over 970,000 likes in one month (shown below).
