About
I'm Like Totally Emo and Stuff Now is an exploitable webcomic in which Nyami from Pop'n Music, dressed in black and smoking, tells Mimi that she's emo now because the world is "dumb and stuff." The comic was posted by X / Twitter artist @SouperSaucer in November 2023 and became the subject of redraws and edits over the following years, most of which replace the characters.
Origin
On November 7th, 2023, X[1] user @SouperSaucer posted a comic based on the characters Nyami and Mimi from Pop'n Music, writing, "popn comic from 2 years ago," garnering over 20,000 likes and 3,200 reposts in two years. In the comic, Nyami, dressed in black and smoking, tells Mimi," I'm like… totally emo and stuff now." Mimi responds, "What," and Nyami continues, "The world is like… dumb and stuff… so I decided to turn emo." Mimi responds in the same way.

The comic became the subject of redraws shortly after it was reposted. One of the earliest known redraws was posted on November 8th, 2023 by X[2] user @elpoderdelcasco, redrawing it with characters from the film Unicorn Wars, garnering over 160 likes in two years.

Spread
The meme became increasingly popular over the following years as the subject of redraws and edits. On December 18th, 2023, Tumblr[3] user e-vay posted a redraw based on characters from Sonic Frontiers, garnering over 7,000 notes in just over a year.

On March 31st, 2024, X[4] user @harlot_weapon posted the unaltered comic, writing, "Hank & Dean" a reference to Supernatural, garnering over 2,600 likes in a year. On May 16th, X[5] user @likeadragondeez posted a redraw referencing the Yakuza series, garnering over 4,500 likes in 10 months.

On February 24th, 2025, Instagram[6] user epsilver_ posted a redraw of the meme replacing the characters with Wojaks, garnering over 4,400 likes in a month.

On March 26th, X[7] user @hueoops posted an edit of the original comic that replaces the dialogue to read, "Elon molests the rockets and they explode," in response to and as an interpretation of a comic about Elon Musk figuring out how to make his rockets launch successfully, garnering over 11,000 likes in under a day.
