"I'm Poopin" Cat refers to a three-panel image macro of a cat sitting in a bathroom. In the first two panels, the cat says "I'm poopin!" and in the third panel, it says "false alarm."
Origin
The original image featured the cat next to a woman. It was taken by Russian photographer Dmitriy Konstantinov and posted to EnglishRussia on September 27th, 2006 (shown below).[7]
Spread
The image macro with the "pooping" caption began circulating online in the following years. One of the earliest posts of the image macro appeared on Neogaf[1] on January 24th, 2008 (shown below).
The image spread online on various meme sites in the following several years, such as Cat Macros,[2] We Know Memes,[3] and Imgur.[4] A variation of the image which added animations over the image was posted to Blingee[6] (shown below).
Estoy Poopin
As the image macro of the cat spread, a variation appeared in which the cat is wearing a Mexican hat and the text was altered to "Estoy Poopin!" An example was posted to Imgur on March 25th, 2014.[5]
