About

Kleiner Hai is a viral video popular in Germany, with many remix videos.

Origin

On January 15, 2007, the first "Kleiner Hai" video was posted to YouTube. The video shows a young German woman, Alexandra Müller, performing an animated musical comedy of a little shark growing up and finally swallowing a girl, thus becoming a bad shark.

The video went largely unnoticed for much of 2007. But beginning in December of 2007, searches for Kleiner Hai began piling up, and by June of 2008, the video has 2.5 million views. As of November, 2009, the video has over 10 million views.

Derivatives.

Several remakes were created by the public. In 2008, the record company EMI made a record deal with Alexandra, making a summer hit of the short video, featuring several excepts from the clips of the public.
