MILF Messenger is a fake iPhone application that was alleged to be the number four most popular app on the Apple App Store in mid-October 2024, right under Bluesky. The earliest known MILF Messenger meme was posted to X / Twitter in July 2023, consisting of an edited App Store screenshot showing the app at the number six "top charts" spot. In October 2024, in the midst of a surge in popularity of the app Bluesky, one of the app's users, @zachsilberberg, posted a similarly edited screenshot showing MILF Messenger right under Bluesky at the number four spot, resulting in a wave of reactions to and memes about the fake app, which is assumedly implied to be an app used to message MILFs.

Origin

On July 1st, 2023, Bluesky^[1] user @zachsilberberg posted an edited screenshot of the Apple App Store top charts, showing Bluesky at number five and MILF Messenger at number six, writing, "not even top 5. twitter is cooked," garnering over 760 likes in a year. MILF Messenger does not appear to be a real app, as there are no results for it when searched on the App Store. Additionally, there is seemingly no other information about the app online.

Spread

On October 17th, 2024, Bluesky^[2] user @zachsilberberg posted an altered screenshot of the Apple App Store's top charts, writing, "this is kind of crazy." In the screenshot, the Bluesky app sits in the number three spot and is circled in red. Just under it at number four is a fake app called MILF Messenger. The post garnered over 260 likes in four days.

The image was reposted numerous times over the following days, with some seeming to believe it was real. For example, on October 18th, Bluesky^[3] user @esqueer posted it, writing, "LFG!," garnering over 2,100 likes in three days. On the same day, Bluesky^[4] user yoloswaglord420 reposted it, writing, "we have finally defeated MILF Messenger," garnering over 1,500 likes in the same span of time.

Later that day, Bluesky^[5] user alexvont quote-reposted the meme, writing, "Expecting this to change as soon as you all find out about MILF Messenger," suggesting people will flock to download MILF Messenger upon seeing the meme, garnering over 1,100 likes in three days. That same day, X^[6] user @VermilViathan reposted the meme, writing, "masterful gambit, Mr. Musk," garnering over 83,000 likes.

Also on October 18th, 2024, X^[7] user @KingIncitatus posted a version of the Small Brain Man Screaming at Big Brain Man meme referencing the MILF Messenger app, garnering over 158,000 likes in three days. It was reposted to iFunny^[8] on October 20th, garnering over 2,100 smiles in a day.
