Ogerpon is a Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Teal Mask. The Pokémon became a quick fan favorite after the release of the DLC due in large part to the story and design of the character as portrayed in the DLC.

Origin

Ogerpon's design was initially revealed in the original trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask DLC, released on June 21st, 2023 (shown below). The DLC was released on September 12th, 2023.

Spread

Upon the release of the DLC, Ogerpon became a quick fan favorite, both for its design and how it ties into the DLC's narrative (Spoilers for The Teal Mask DLC ahead).

As players played through the DLC, they took to social media to express their appreciation for the character, praising its narrative importance and drawing fan art of it. For example, on September 13th, 2023, Twitter user @YTMario55901^[1] posted an Ogerpon edit of the I've Had Arlo For A Day meme, gaining over 230 retweets and 1,000 likes in one day (shown below, top). User @Cloudiercomet38^[2] made a joke about Ogerpon attending the town of Kitikami's annual festival, gaining over 590 retweets and 3,400 likes (shown below, bottom).
