On November 16th, 2023, X^[1] user @endiive posted a piece of artwork by British artist Jason Brooks^[2] that shows a woman in a bikini smirking and wearing headphones walking on the beach. Three men in wetsuits are seen in the background staring at her, one yelling.

The post reads, "oh they clocked her downnn. look at the way she’s thinking she’s freshly caught tuna tartare, whole time her tuck slipped and trade playing in her face so nasty." It gained over 49,000 likes, 7,200 reposts and 12 million views in three years.

The post text purportedly means that the men caught her thinking she looks good (like freshly caught tuna tartare), but she had a wardrobe malfunction (tuck slipped), and now the men are openly disrespecting her (playing in her face so nasty).

The Oh They Clocked Her Down post was screenshotted and spread over the following years through reposts. It also inspired referential memes, with the caption becoming a copypasta.
