Oh, This Is Beautiful refers to a series of two-panel exploitable images based on a scene from the animated television series Gravity Falls. In the meme, the character Grunkle Stan calls a photoshopped screen capture from the series "beautiful."
Origin
On July 6th, 2012, the episode "The Hand That Rocks The Mable" of Gravity Falls premiered.[1] During the episode, the character Grunkle Stan looks at a painting of a clown and says, "Oh, this is beautiful" (clip below).
Spread
In June 2016, Imgflip [2] user Lapis_Lazuli posted a two-panel exploitable of the moment, replacing the image of the clown with an image of the Gravity Falls character Dipper Pines. The post (shown below, left) received more than 30,400 views in two years.
The following year, on June 18th, 2017, DeviantArt [3] user DoraeArtDreams-Aspy posted a variation featuring Lighting McQueen from the Cars. The post (shown below, center) received more than 315 views in one year.
On February 28th, 2018, Tumblr [4] user cabooseachievables posted a variation in which the picture features Brigitte Lindholm from the video game Overwatch. The post (shown below, right) received more than 9,100 notes in about six months.
Later that year, Redditor [5] JackNJ5 posted a version in which the picture just reads "You" in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit. The post (shown below) received more than 860 points (95% upvoted) in 24 hours.
