About

Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan is the spiritual successor to All Gas, No Brakes, a YouTube channel that is known for extremely off-the-cuff and unscripted interviews with real people out in the wild. The channel is comprised of the same team from All Gas No Brakes, which left their former show in March 2021 after citing issues with the media company that owned it. In early January 2023, a viral controversy surrounding Callaghan spread online after multiple women accused him of alleged sexual assault.

History

On March 9th, 2021, Andrew Callaghan wrote on his Instagram[1] that he was done with All Gas No Brakes and that the entire team was stepping back from it due to "scummy business practices" by the company Doing Things media, though they are not explicitly named. Callaghan's Instagram post received over 170,000 likes in four months (shown below).

After a month-long hiatus, Callaghan's first video to announce his comeback was posted on YouTube[2] on April 11th, 2021, titled "Miami Beach Spring Break," which received over 1.5 million views in three months (shown below). In the video, Andrew goes around Miami Beach, which infamously defied national mask mandates and opened itself up to thousands of partygoers from other states in spite of the national lockdowns in place due to COVID-19.

Later that month, Callaghan found himself at the courthouse when the Derek Chauvin verdict was announced and interviewed several people after the guilty verdict was handed, capturing many different emotions and reactions from the crowd. Later in the video, Callaghan interviews someone who happens to be the cousin of Daunte Wright, who was killed by police earlier two weeks prior. The video[3] was posted on April 29th, 2021, and received over 750,000 views in four months (shown below).

This Place Rules

On December 30th, 2022, Callaghan's documentary on the January 6th Storming of the Capitol titled This Place Rules released on HBO Max.

While promoting the film, Callaghan was questioned by NPR about the ethics in showcasing Alex Jones' role in the insurrection. After the interviewer seemed to disparage Callaghan's choice to have sociable conversations with Jones in the documentary, Callaghan's response got a cheer from the crowd (shown below).
