The Pig Electrocuted GIF or the Exploding Pig GIF is an AI-generated reaction GIF of a pig touching an electrical transformer with its snout and getting electrocuted, causing it to fly backwards through the air. The GIF went viral on X / Twitter in early April 2026, inspiring memes, as well as recreations that avoid the use of AI.

Origin

On April 5th, 2026, X^[1] user @zacobson posted an AI-generated GIF of a pig touching an electrical transformer and getting electrocuted, the explosion from the transformer sending it flying backwards. The post reads, "welcome to empower field at mile high! it’s week 15 and we have a great one in store for you. an outer-conference clash between the top-seeded denver broncos and the green bay packers, riding a four-game winning streak." The post gained over 520 likes in a week. This is the earliest known user to post the GIF.

Spread

On April 6th, 2026, X^[2] user @soberkravitz reposted the GIF, writing, "…………………CRANK IT," garnering over 59,000 likes, 4 million views and 6,500 reposts in a week.

Later that day, X^[3] user @horsebjork quoted the post, writing, "OMG is that nicki minaj okay????" referring to Nicki Minaj as a pig, garnering over 25,000 likes in a week.

On April 7th, X^[4] user @erenfromtargets posted the GIF under the caption, "pulled in mcdonald’s drive thru and the cashier said 'welcome back,'" portraying themselves as the pig being "shocked" by the McDonald's employee's comment, garnering over 242,000 likes in six days.

On April 10th, 2026, X^[5] user @ultr4nima quote-reposted the meme by @erenfromtargets, writing, "hey so this gif is actually AI? could someone remake this video ethically by electrocuting a real life pig in real life?" garnering over 132,000 likes and 5,300 reposts in three days.

That day, X^[6] user @MarigoldyLol posted a comment sharing a remake of the GIF created using Garry's Mod, garnering over 20,000 likes in three days.
