Origin

Pizza Movie, a stoner comedy film starring Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson of Stranger Things), was released on April 3rd, 2026. The film is about two college students who take a psychedelic drug and must go downstairs to get a pizza, but struggle due to their hallucinations. Marketing for Pizza Movie heavily leaned on the film's more absurd scenes.

On April 3rd, the day of the film's release, X / Twitter users began posting scenes from the film under the caption, "Pizza Movie (2026)."

For example, on that day, X^[1] user @WwwLukethoughts posted a screenshot from the movie of a man who has passed out and has "insert penis here" written on his back, pointing to his posterior, gaining over 18,000 likes in six days.

Shortly after, X^[2] user @NebsGoodTakes posted a scene from the movie where Matarazzo's head explodes, garnering over 14,000 likes in six days.

Later on April 3rd, 2026, X^[3] user @Ooh_Rap_I_Ya posted screenshots from the film Project Hail Mary under the guise that they're screenshots from Pizza Movie, garnering over 18,000 likes in six days. This is the earliest known version of the meme.
