About

Riley Dance, also known as Teen Riley Dancing Scene or Teen Riley Edit, refers to a viral meme originating from the Inside Out spin-off series Dream Productions showing a teenage version of Riley, the main character, dancing at what appears to be a prom or party. The scene features Riley with striking blue-painted hair, and her upbeat dance moves became a CapCut template on TikTok in mid-December 2024 for fan edits and users replacing the character's dance move with real-life people.

Origin

The Riley Dance meme originated from a scene on episode 4 of Dream Productions, a Dinsey+ spin-off series based on Pìxar's Inside Out animated movie. In the episode, a teenage Riley joyfully dances at a party, which was posted online on December 14th, 2024, by YouTube^[1] user The Multiverse Studios, gaining over 1.5 million views and 22,000 likes within a month (see video below).

A few days prior, on December 12th, 2024, TikTok^[2] user @alexslly posted the earñiest viral fan edit of Teen Riley dancing (seen below), which was paired with Doja Cat's "Kiss Me More" song. The video amassed more than 16 million plays and 1 million likes in a month.

The meme gained traction in late December 2024, with users on TikTok remixing the original scene into various edits and turning it into a CapCut template in which Riley's dance moves can be replaced Revive App format. For instance, on December 30th, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @elangelogod replaced teen Riley dancing with an animated version of YouTuber MrBeast. The video amassed roughly 2.3 million plays and 386,000 likes in four days.

On December 19th, 2024, YouTube^[4] user @melduuuuu posted a POV video mocking the Riley edit videos (seen below), amassing more than 883,000 views and 87,000 likes in a month.
