About

SERVERBLIGHT is a YouTube horror series made by the Two Idiot Germans channel and set in the Team Fortress 2 videogame. Over several episodes reminiscent of a creepypasta, the series tells the tale of a strange creature luring unsuspecting players unto a seemingly empty idle server in order to attack and assimilate them. It became enough of a sensation within TF2's community to inspire parodies and creations expanding on the lore as well as in-game mods, in a manner not dissimilar to The Backrooms.

Origin

On October 31st, 2024, Two Idiot Germans uploaded a first video titled [SFM/HORROR] The Empty Server (shown below). It follows a TF2 player named "dicksalot" who stumbled upon a supposedly empty server with the Thunder Mountain map. What begins as a casual game with upbeat music quickly turns horrific when he became chased by a strange entity that prevents him from disconnecting and is forcing him to jump of a cliff in order to escape. The video gained more than a million views in the first 3 months of its release.

The name of the creature would then be coined in the 3rd installment of the series, [SFM/HORROR] SERVERBLIGHT (shown below), released on January 4th, 2025, in which "dicksalot" (real name Aaron), who survived, is playing another TF2 game with his friend before again meeting with the creature. This episode accumulated to over 1 and a half million views after a month.

As of February 2025, 4 episodes have been produced, all centered around a strange creature that is composed of all the TF2 characters it assimilated, except with longer limbs, especially distorted hands and fingers. It is also sometimes shown with a hand coming out of its mouth and has the ability to mimic chat messages and even voice chats to lure more players.

Parodies

Within the TF2 community, especially SFMGarry's Mod creators on YouTube, the series started gaining attention with the 3rd episode, which launched a slew of fan-made videos and shorts:

Mods

On January 20th, YouTube user Hunter Yap uploaded a video in which he tried to chase after players with distorted sounds effects (shown below).

On Febuary 21st, Two Idiot Germans uploaded a video in which they played the game with mods that make characters appear with elongated arms and limbs (shown below).
