Ylilauta is a popular Finnish imageboard, the successor of Kuvalauta, as well as the most active and quite possibly the largest Finnish discussion forum. Ylilauta is also one of the biggest Finnish websites of all time.

There are more than 48,450,000 posts (about 1,000,000 messages are posted every single month) in Ylilauta as of March 2016, and more than 3 million people visit Ylilauta each month.

While most sections on Ylilauta can only be accessed from Finland, there is also an International board, /int/.

History

Ylilauta was founded in early 2011 to ”unite” the two largest Finnish imageboards, Lauta.net and Kotilauta. Ylilauta was hosted at ylilauta.fi until the domain ylilauta.org was registered on December 12, 2011.^[1]

The "Gold Account"

Users of Ylilauta can buy a "gold account" (kultatili) to get more features than "regular" users. Users with gold accounts can edit and delete posts, use the gold account tag when posting, can upload bigger files, can embed longer videos, are able to upload .zip and .rar files, get to hide all ads, and have access to the "Best Threads" (Parhaat langat) section of Ylilauta.
