Slow Motion Gun Animations, also known as "Mississippi Queen" Gun Videos, are a series of exploitable memes revolved around captioning a slow-motion, 3D gun animation shooting a bullet out of its barrel with the 1970 rock song "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain playing in the background. The captions are most often related to a humorous scenario in which the solution is shooting a gun and killing something, contrasted by the overdramatic and righteous nature of the gun graphic and the song. The trend started on iFunny in 2022, spreading throughout the latter part of the year.

On February 13th, 2022, iFunnyer[1] eggsalad posted a Jackass Couch Explosion meme that used "Mississippi Queen" as the audio and had a caption reading, "The .98 cent store when the .97 cent store is invented." Over the course of seven months, the meme received roughly 13,100 smiles (shown below, left). Later on February 13th, iFunnyer[2] littlepieceoftrash posted a variant, decreasing the value of the store's minimum prices by one cent. The meme received roughly 1,200 smiles in seven months (shown below, right).

After the initial creations, iFunnyers continued to make more "Mississippi Queen" "Jackass Couch Explosion" memes with the store's minimum prices decreasing in each iteration.[3] On August 22nd, 2022, iFunnyer[4] GuyontheInternet added "Mississippi Queen" to the audio of a Punisher's 'No, No, No, Wait, Wait, Wait' meme that had a caption about .97 cent store owners hearing the song playing, gaining over 320 smiles in 25 days (shown below, left). Inspired by the use of the song and the growing concept, on August 25th, iFunnyer[5] LeveI_100_CoIoneI used a 3D animation of a gun shooting a bullet with "Mississippi Queen" as the audio and a caption reading, "Sir you can't park there, this is a handica-" Over the course of three weeks, the meme received roughly 15,800 smiles (shown below, right).

Additionally, the 3D gun animation used in the meme was surfaced from a YouTube video titled, "How a gun (Colt M1911) works! (Animation)," from the channel Thomas Schwenke, It was uploaded on July 25th, 2018, and over the course of four years, it received over 20 million views. At the 3:57-minute mark, the gun animation used in the meme starts (shown below).

On August 26th, 2022, iFunnyer[6] eljossu posted a new iteration of the same "Mississippi Queen" format, pairing the video with a caption about a Skinwalker approaching their door disguised as a Girl Scout selling cookies. Over the course of three weeks, the meme received roughly 14,600 smiles (shown below, left). Later on August 26th, iFunnyer[7] Repete6112 posted a new iteration of the same "Mississippi Queen" format, pairing the video with a caption about a Walmart employee advising them not to do heroin in the restroom. Over the course of three weeks, the video received roughly 8,700 smiles (shown below, right).
