Smarty Pants is a potty training toy and one of the protagonists of the 2026 Pixar animated film Toy Story 5, voiced by comedian Conan O'Brien. He is owned by the character Blaze Manoukian.

Smarty Pants became a fan-favorite character from the movie following its release on June 19th, 2026. During the film's theatrical run, Smarty Pants became the subject of fan art, memes and discourse online, including discussions as to why a potty-training toy would have a WiFi connection, as is shown in the movie.

Smarty Pants also became the widespread subject of lewd rule 34 artwork, which proved shocking to some social media users. Some fans ship Smarty Pants with Jessica Jane "Jessie" Pride.

Origin

Smarty Pants, voiced by Conan O'Brien, made his debut in Toy Story 5 on June 19th, 2026. He is a potty training device with an LED screen and a WiFi connection that allows him to send and receive messages from The Pond, an interactive social media app meant for children and accessed primarily through a tablet device called a Lily Pad.

At the beginning of the film, Smarty Pants is running on low battery power, which makes him act drunk. He has a handle or "flusher" that extends from his sides and over his head, and three buttons below his LED screen, which are, at one point in the movie, used by Jessie to play a pattern repetition game. In a fantasy scene in the film, Smarty Pants appears with Conan O'Brien's hair as a nod to his voice actor.

Prior to the film's release, Smarty Pants was first revealed by Disney Pixar on August 30th, 2025.^[1]

For example, on June 23rd, 2026, X^[2] user @MUMI_geonjo posted a piece of fan art that reinterprets a scene where Jessie jumps on Smarty Pants' buttons to play a pattern-matching game as an intimate experience, garnering over 8,400 likes in a week.

On June 26th, TikToker^[3] @mochinut77, who previously posted several videos shipping themselves with Smarty Pants, posted a compilation of Smarty Pants clips captioned, "Smarty Pants clips I snagged for no reason," the implication being that they're hot, garnering over 1.6 million views in four days.

That day, TikToker^[4] @kanepixelsglazer posted a trollish video sharing the opinion that people who are attracted to Smarty Pants are predators and offering up opinions on why Smarty Pants might be underage, garnering over 2.8 million views in four days.

On June 28th, 2026, X^[5] user and artist @ma911128 posted the first in a series of moe anthro artworks that depict Smarty Pants as a human, garnering over 2,800 likes in two days.

On June 29th, X^[6] user @EggyDaxy posted, "There’s a debate on TikTok about wether it’s ethical to want to f--- the toilet paper toy from Toy Story meanwhile in all clips I’ve seen of him he’s been rubbing his buttons and moaning 😭," garnering over 10,000 likes in a day.

On June 30th, 2026, X^[7] user @Juaner_answer posted a similar piece of artwork that depicts Smarty Pants as a human with white hair and big green glasses next to Jessie, garnering over 1,000 likes in under a day.
