Squid Game Celebration, also known as Squid Game Cheering, refers to a clip from season 2 of the South Korean Netflix show Squid Game in which the protagonist, Seong Gi-hun (Player 456, played by actor Lee Jung-jae), is cheering and celebrating with a group of players during the Six-Legged Pentathlon game in episode 5, titled "One More Game." The scene was used in an image macro series and as a reaction GIF in caption memes on Twitter / X, TikTok and Reddit in 2025, usually to represent a group of people celebrating something with fervor.

Origin

On December 26th, 2024, season 2, episode 5 of Squid Game, titled "One More Game," was released on Netflix. The episode centers on the second game of the Squid Game, the Six-Legged Pentathlon, and starts with a team winning the game, making the others celebrate their victory.^[1]

In the clip, Player 001 grabs Player 456 while others cheer and celebrate around them (YouTube^[2] upload shown below).

On January 1st, 2025, the verified SquidGame account on Tenor^[4] shared a GIF of the abovementioned scene.

On February 11th, Tenor^[3] user fortnite124 posted a higher quality GIF of the celebration scene (shown below).

The scene was first used in memes to joke about Player 001 forgetting that he was secretly the Front Man, like two TikToks^[5][6] shared on December 27th and 28th, 2024, gaining over 894,200 likes and 715,100 likes, respectively, in seven months.

The scene was first used to represent celebrating in a meme shared by TikToker^[7] @baldkurapikq on January 3rd, 2025, who captioned it, "Me and my HG when both of our lil shyts are acting right for once," gaining over 111,600 likes in six months (shown below).

On January 7th, 2025, TikToker^[8] @hofdriva posted an iteration of the meme, adding a caption to the clip that read, "How happy guys with a loving GF get when you mention a 2 man," receiving over 35,300 likes in six months (shown below).

On February 9th, TikToker^[8] @hofdriva posted a Squid Game Celebration meme in a photo slideshow, captioned, "How hype elementary school MFs be after a girl got sniped in the face with the wet soccer ball during recess," gaining over 503,200 likes in five months (shown below).

On April 28th, 2025, TikToker^[9] @whizzywizard314 posted a Squid Game Celebration meme about the 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla question, reading, "When #34 just landed an uppercut on the gorilla so the rest of us genuinely start gaining hope." Over three months, the post earned over 125,300 likes (shown below).

On July 1st, X^[10] user @loujack_city posted a quote-tweet in line with the Trump 'I'm Going To Fucking Kill You' Bill jokes, using the Squid Game Celebration GIF. Over six days, it received over 343,000 likes (shown below).
