Trump Behind Bulletproof Glass refers to memes and jokes made in reference to news that Donald Trump will be speaking at rallies ahead of the 2024 election from behind bulletproof glass, following the assassination attempt on July 13th, 2024. The memes typically utilize a particular photo taken of Trump speaking from behind glass at a 2019 Independence Day Celebration and grew popular online in August 2024.
Origin
On July 4th, 2019, photographer Alex Brandon clicked a photo of Trump speaking from behind bulletproof glass at an Independence Day event at the Lincoln Memorial. The image can be accessed via Alamy[1] (seen below).
On August 15th, 2024, ABC[2] broke the news that Trump will be speaking from behind bulletproof glass at subsequent rally events, in light of the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on July 13th, 2024. X[3] account @AFpost posted the 2019 image of Trump behind bulletproof glass, gathering over 4,000 likes on an August 16th, 2024 post (seen below, left).
Also on August 16th, X[4] user @StatisticUrban quoted the post, writing, "I think he legit has PTSD," and gathering over 70,000 likes in four days (seen below, right).
