When Your Custom Character Is in a Cutscene is a series of image macros and videos mocking bizarre-looking customized characters that players can create in various role-playing video games.
Origin
On May 2nd, 2016, the Independent Journal Review Vine[1] channel uploaded a short clip of a man with a blue beard wearing large bug eye sunglasses at a Bernie Sanders rally. On May 12th, 2016, Imgur user RadicalPenguin reuploaded the clip with the titled "When you see your customizable character in a cutscene" (shown below).

On December 28th, 2016, YouTuber ProZD uploaded a short comedy sketch titled "Cutscenes that keep the stupid clothes you put on your character" (shown below). Within eight months, the video received more than 1.44 million views and 810 comments.
On June 8th, 2017, Twitter user @hoennzollern[2] tweeted a photograph of candidates in the 2017 United Kingdom election with the caption "When your custom character is in a cutscene." Within three months, the post gathered upwards of 92,400 likes and 35,900 retweets. On June 10th, Redditor umbasa reposted the photo to /r/shittydarksouls.[3]
On July 5th, Redditor NobodyisPlaying posted an animated GIF of an Kingdom Hearts custom character in a cutscene with Disney's Seven Dwarves titled "When your custom character appears in a cutscene" (shown below).
