Why Am I Seeing an Angel refers to an exploitable webcomic about a person in a hospital who wakes up and asks his girlfriend if he's dead. She says no, to which he says, "then why am I seeing an angel?" The girlfriend thinks this is a compliment towards her but the final panel reveals a character the man thinks is an angel over the shoulder of his girlfriend. In the exploitables, the "angel" is changed.

Origin

On November 19th, 2020, Brazilian artist As Crônicas de Wesley uploaded a webcomic to his Facebook^[1] page. The post received more than 27,000 reactions and 14,000 shares (shown below).

Spread

The comic was quickly adapted into an exploitable. For example, on November 21st, 2020, Facebook^[2] page "Riko 'All Mine' Sakurauchi" uploaded the image by adding hair that refers to Love Live Sunshine characters. The post was received 263 reactions and 94 shares (shown below, left). On November 26th, 2020, Reddit^[4] user caccucocau uploaded uploaded a parody using Neon Genesis Evangelion characters to /r/goodanimemes subreddit. The post was received more than 22,800 upvotes. On the same day, Facebook^[3] user Joshua Gosine reposted the image to the "Neon Genesis EVANGELION" Group and received more than 1,400 reactions and 2,700 shares (shown below, right).
