Zubat is a 1st-generation Pokémon, which design is based on a vampire bat. It has blue skin with purple wings, and no visible eye. It has become common in online memes, specifically those complaining about the abundance of Zubats found in caves within the Pokémon games.

History

Zubat is a stage-1 Pokémon, and one of the first Pokémon to exist, having been present ever since the Pokémon Red & Blue games were released on October 15th, 1996. It inhabits most caves in those games, as well as in many Pokémon games released afterwards, and is overall one of the most common Pokémon to encounter. This led to many online memes jokingly complaining about wild Zubats spamming the player whenever they enter a cave, and especially the tunnel through Mount Moon, which is the very first underground zone to appear in the Red & Blue games.
