Man or Bear in the Woods Question - Metaphorical statement

It's not a metaphor though, it's a thought experiment. It's also not just hyperbole like saying you'd rather die than go to work. People are unironically defending it as their sincere opinion.

If your metaphor is that flawed in the first place, maybe don't die on that specific hill?
