after the golf thing pacifica decides to get her thoughts in order by inviting mabel to one of her slumber parties; this way she figures if mabel is as totally lame as she seems pacifica can go back to hating her

she doesn’t have the fortitude to explain to her friends that she genuinely wants to see if mabel is nice to be around, so she sort of…implies that she’s inviting her so they all can be subtly mean and passive aggressive and play pranks and see how long they can string her along before mabel’s sure they’re out to get her

too bad mabel does THE BEST SLUMBER PARTIES KNOWN TO MAN, she makes a GODDAMN CELEBRATION out of life, all of a sudden everybody is sliding down pacifica’s three-story banisters and making gooey brownies in the stainless-steel kitchen

no one is immune. everybody tries to be mean to mabel but she is just SO GOOD at playing mash and talking about boy bands and she knows ALL the best dares

there is a halfhearted attempt to give her a bad makeover but she…..looks pretty ok in bright orange eyeshadow? and….so…..does everyone else, apparently? when did this happen??? when did we let her do this?

they end up playing blind man’s bluff in the front gardens and then, exhausted, making a couch boat in one of the fanciest drawing rooms. pacifica falls asleep to the dulcet tones of mabel breathing through her mouth

and she thinks “s---. s---”
