X-Year-Old Thinker refers to a series of image macro memes using Oomer Wojaks characters to depict the thoughts, goals and values of people from different ages, with the most viral version being the 19-Year-Old Thinker meme, which features phrases and affirmations delving into the mind of a frustrated person at that age. The meme resurfaced online in early April 2024 after streamer, YouTuber and podcaster HealthyGamerGG addressed the 25-Year-Old Thinker meme during a livestream, advising people on how to overcome negative emotions and the thinker's mindset.
Origin
On December 8th, 2019, Redditor[1] fronkelele posted an image using an Oomer Wojaks character to represent a "19-year-old THINKER's" personality, describing the person as someone who "has no interest in any career, just want to think," "can't understand new things, gets caught in analysis paralysis. Just think about things he already knows" and many other sentences. The post (shown below) amassed over 210 upvotes and 40 comments in five years.
Spread
The X-Year-Old meme format was popularized in the 2020s, sparking more versions of the meme with different ages, such as one posted by the Facebook[2] page BoomerUSA, who created a "20-Something-Year-Old Thinkers" image on February 19th, 2024, featuring a series of characteristics of people in their 20s. The post (shown below, top) amassed more than 710 likes and 270 shares in roughly a month. The page[3] also posted a version of the "25-year-old thinker" meme on the same day (shown below, bottom), amassing roughly 1,100 likes and 360 shares in two months.
On April 1st, 2024, YouTuber HealthyGamerGG[4] posted a livestream video in which he addressed the "25-year-old thinker" meme he found on Reddit, advising people on how to overcome negative emotions and the thinker's mindset. The video (shown below) received over 208,000 views and 7,400 likes in a day.
