Origin

It was reported in the media^[1] on October 19th, 2021, that Facebook had signaled its intent to change its name, as the CEO Mark Zuckerberg wanted to shift company focus to be on the Metaverse. On October 28th, 2021, during a livestream event Mark Zuckerberg announced that the parent company Facebook will be changed to Meta, which will be focused on the Metaverse, a future product and ideology pushed by Zuckerberg as the "next stage of the internet."

The livestream keynote event, which was hosted on the Reuters YouTube^[2] channel among many others, was on the future topics of Metaverse, practical applications for the upcoming Meta glasses, as well as the capabilities of the system itself and augmented and virtual reality (shown below).
