About

The Andrew Dawson Giant On Mountain Sighting or the TikTok Giant is a viral video posted by TikToker @andykapt in April 2022 in which he records what appears to be a giant person standing on a mountain in Canada. The video was proceeded by several other videos where Dawson attempts to see the giant again and claims he's being followed by the CIA. In May, he claimed the video was fake but took that claim back later in the month, making one final video of a building now standing where the giant was before disappearing from the platform. Later that year, unsubstantiated rumors that Dawson died after the final video started to spread online, leading to a conspiracy theory revolving around the event.

Origin

On April 9th, 2022, Canadian TikToker[1] @andykapt posted a video captioned "ITS A GIANT" in which, from his car, he films a mountain in the distance that shows what appears to be a giant person standing on top of it. One person asks, "What is it?" and Andrew responds, "a person," asking his friend to pull over. The friend insists the shape is not a person. The video gained over 4 million views in eight months (shown below). The video is seemingly taken at Whistler's Peak in Alberta, Canada or Canoe Mountain, BC.

Over the course of the next month, Dawson posted 13 more videos relating to the giant. On April 11th, 2022, he posted two videos to TikTok[2][3] responding to people who said his camerawork was shaky and saying it's not realistic to explore the mountain because of how far away and high up it is. On April 12th he posted a video to TikTok[4] showing a closer view of the mountain, although the giant is not there anymore, garnering over 750,000 views in eight months (shown below, left). That same day he posted an update to TikTok[5] saying he was told by "some CIA agent" that he had to leave the area due to "some environmental issue," promising the viewers that he'd go back the next day (shown below, right).

Later that day, he posted[7] footage of two helicopters flying over the area, saying they were "extracting" something from the area, garnering over 538,000 views in eight months (shown below).

On April 17th, he posted[9] a video showing a car outside his home that drives off as he tries to see who it is, suggesting he's being stalked by agents, garnering over 785,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, left). On May 6th, he posted[10] a video saying he's not dead and hasn't disappeared, just that he's been too busy to update then revealing that the videos were fake (shown below, right). He repeatedly looks out of the corner of his eyes off-camera during the video as if being directed by someone.

I hate how badly TikToks embed on this site. It's impossible to actually look at the videos because they never load on the webpage. I want to actually see this giant caught on camera and I can't.

This isn't just "TikTok Bad" this is "TikTok is barely functional outside of its own app"
