Gurning Rave Guy, also known as Bounce by the Ounce, is a viral video about a group of clubgoers in Preston, England. The video is most notable for a shot of a bald white man known as "Bounce by the Ounce Crazy Guy" or simply "Rave Guy," who dances with his teeth clenched and eyes agape while making frantic arm movements. The video spread online in the mid-to-late 2010s, becoming a meme typically formatted as a GIF caption.

Origin

On June 8th, 2014, YouTuber Stephen Singleton published "Bounce by the Ounce." The post received more than 8.9 million views in less than seven years (reupload shown below).



Spread

The following week, on June 16th, YouTuber[1] Burt Overback posted a 10-minute loop of the "Bounce by the Ounce Crazy Guy." The post received more than 454,000 views in less than seven years (shown below, left).

On June 21st, YouTuber[2] TheRealNaxos shared a 10-hour version of the clip, receiving more than 779,000 views in less than seven years (shown below, right).



About a month after the video went viral, the "Bounce by the Ounce Crazy Guy" began posting videos on YouTube.[3] On December 26th, 2016, he posted a video titled "just chillin" in which the man dances for the camera. Within four years, the post received more than 3 million views (shown below).
