About

**Concern** refers to multiple redraws and reaction images that show characters drawn by fandoms with their hands clasped as if they're praying, expressing concern over a certain post or thread. The original meme was made using the character Tadashi Hamada from Big Hero 6 and was posted to Tumblr in early 2015. From there, Darkwraith from Dark Souls, Nick Wilde from Zootopia and others were drawn into the template, eventually culminating into a "Gathered Concern" image macro.

Origin

On April 5th, 2015, Tumblr^[1] user nondidd (since-deleted) posted a response to their own post, creating a three-panel comic in response to a Twitter reply about Baymax wearing a Hiro mask instead of Hiro wearing a Baymax one. The last image in the comic was Tadashi Hamada, who expressed humorous concern for Baymax's choice. Over the course of seven years, the post received roughly 55,600 notes (shown below).

On September 23rd, 2015, Facebook ^[9] user Knight Artorias the Abysswalker reposted the Big Hero 6 meme. Later the same day, he created his own version^[2] of the meme, instead drawing Darkwraith from Dark Souls. Over the course of seven years, the meme received over 230 reactions (shown below, left). On December 1st, 2015, a meme was created on MemeCenter ^[3] by the user LucaZero who used concerned Tadashi Hamada as a reaction image to a questionable screenshot about lolis. Over the course of six years, the meme received over 570 likes (shown below, right) and was reposted to Tumblr^[4] later the same month.

Sometime in early 2016, another iteration was made showing a concerned Nick Wilde from Zootopia (shown below). A Reddit post made on April 8th, 2016 within /r/zootopia^[5] indicates that the source was a since-deleted 4chan ^[6] thread. The Nick Wilde iteration specifically is used in many 4chan threads to express ironic concern over Rule 34 art. On August 22nd, 2016, Imgur ^[7] user MagnusMan compiled all three early iterations into one post, earning roughly 16,200 views in six years.

On April 12th, 2017, DeviantArt ^[8] user Buttery-Commissar inserted the character Commissar from Warhammer 40,000 into the template, earning roughly 4,000 views over five years (shown below, left). On March 8th, 2018, a since-deleted Redditor created a "Gathered Concern" image, compiling multiple iterations into one (shown below, right).
