Daniel Dae Kim Mewing or Lord Ozai Mewing refers to a viral montage of actor Daniel Dae Kim mewing. The video, originally posted by the actor on TikTok in late February 2024, achieved virality as source material for caption memes in March of that same year.

Origin

On February 23rd, 2024, TikTok[1] user @molinasdafoe posted a Crying Soyjak vs. Mewing Jaw fancam of Avatar: The Last Airbender character Fire Lord Ozai, portrayed in the 2024 live-action adaptation by actor Daniel Dae Kim, also known for his performances as Dr. Han in The Good Doctor. The upload (shown below, left) earned over 64,200 views and 8,100 likes in two weeks.

On March 6th, Daniel Dae Kim replied to the fancam with a montage of himself mewing, including the Shh gesture, set to a slowed+reverb version of "Ecstasy" by SUICIDAL-IDOL. The video (shown below, right) received over 3.8 million views and 825,000 likes on TikTok[2] in two days.

Also on March 6th, 2024, X[3] user @jacksonicide posted the earliest found caption meme based on the video, with the post (shown below) garnering over 10 reposts and 80 likes in two days.

In the following days, the video achieved popularity as source material for video caption memes on X / Twitter. For example, on March 7th, 2024, X[4] user @punishedcleo made a post referencing the I Am a Surgeon meme, which received over 2,000 reposts and 22,000 likes in one day (shown below).


Later on March 7th, X[5] user @hackermanjoe posted a _"Dune":https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/dune-film-series meme that received over 150 reposts and 3,700 likes in one day (shown below).
