Dog With Ball In Mouth or Dog Cannon, also known as Peashooter Dog, is a viral image of a dog (presumably a pitbull) with a big, orange-and-black ball in its mouth, making it somewhat resemble a cannon or a Peashooter from Plants vs. Zombies. The exploitable image, taken from a TikTok video, was posted to X / Twitter in February 2024 and went viral, inspiring redraws and image macro memes.

Origin

On February 4th, 2024, X^[1] user @ConfusingImages uploaded a screenshot of a slideshow video by a currently unknown TikToker in which a dog holds a large black-and-orange ball in its mouth, its lips wrapped around the ball, garnering over 168,000 likes and 7,800 reposts in two days (shown below).

Spread

The image became the subject of memes on X that day, also gaining viral spread on Tumblr. On February 4th, 2024, X^[2] user @kroominated quote-reposted the image, writing, "is this Snot," referencing the album cover to Snot's self-titled album, garnering over 1,000 likes in two days. On February 5th, X^[3] user @dadummybunny posted the image, writing, "ehhh shutup.. DOG CANNON !!!!" garnering over 4,500 likes in a day (shown below).

On the same day, X^[4] user @PhillipBankss posted a redraw of the image depicting the dog as Birdo from the Super Mario series, garnering over 28,000 likes in a day (shown below, left). The artist also posted it to Tumblr,^[5] garnering over 1,100 notes in the same span of time.

Later on February 5th, X^[6] user @LimesLemonades posted a redraw depicting the dog as a Peashooter from the game Plants vs. Zombies, garnering over 6,300 likes in a day (shown below, right).
