Overview

Danny Devito as Wolverine Petition refers to a campaign started on Change.org to cast Danny Devito as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The campaign gained thousands of signatures and drew media attention.

Background

On May 7th, 2019, Ring Arius posted a petition to Change.org[1] to cast Danny Devito as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He wrote:

The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny DeVito.

Developments

The petition quickly proved successful, gaining over 14,000 signatures two weeks. On May, 10th, shortly after the petition was posted, an edit of an It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia meme was posted to /r/marvelmemes,[2] though it is unclear if the post was referencing the recent petition (shown below, left). Additionally, Devito was once rumored to play Wolverine in the 1980s, though it is unclear if this is related to the petition.[2]
