About

Operation Stop Their Scheme, is the codename for Anonymous' and 4chan's attack on Know Your Meme, in which they attempted to spam gore and DDoS the site.

Origin

Ever since the creation of the site, many sites, especially 4chan, have hated Know Your Meme due to it "shamelessly promoting and commercializing memes which it has no hand in creating". However, action was not taken untill after RocketBoom, the site's former owner, released a Youtube video on 22 Oct 2010 titled "Gimme Pizza: Meme Overload". The video was a parody of the meme Gimme Pizza, and featured a large amount of Internet memes, similar to the meme overload phenomenon. The video was seen as an example of the mainstream media ruining memes, and received many dislikes.
