About
Evil Kim Lip is a nickname for Korean rapper CHIO CHICANO inspired by her resemblance to Kim Lip, a member of the K-pop group LOONA. The Evil Kim Lip meme went viral on TikTok in early 2024, centering on a freestyle cipher video with CHIO CHICANO performing her song "KITTY D*CK," including the lyrics "Grah, grah, grah, boom, bitch!" Most videos a part of the trend made jokes about her being fake "hood." Some called her "Rice Spice" (a variation of "Ice Spice" perceived as racist by some). Calling her the "evil" version of Kim Lip likely stems from the Evil X Be Like meme.
Origin
On December 1st, 2023, the YouTube[1] channel Dingo FreeStyle posted a roughly 13-minute-long video of a freestyle cipher between multiple Korean rappers, including female rapper CHIO CHICANO. At the video's 10:29-minute mark (shown below), CHIO CHICANO starts her song "KITTY D*CK," which had its music video released on YouTube[2] three months prior, on September 18th, 2023. The freestyle video received over 333,000 views in one month.
On January 2nd, 2024, TikToker[3] @chompchuu2.0 posted part of CHIO CHICANO's cipher with a caption reading, "KIM LIP EVIL TWIN FEEDING US," gaining over 235,600 plays and 5,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).

Soon after the aforementioned TikTok,[3] users on the platform started to spread CHIO CHICANO's cipher with the nickname Evil Kim Lip. For instance, on January 4th, 2024, TikToker[4] @totostoast posted a video that paired "EVIL KIM LIP" against "evil chuu," gaining over 1.4 million plays and 122,100 likes in 12 days (shown below, left).
On January 9th, TikToker[5] @kpomini posted a video that joked about what would happen if they stepped in the United States, gaining over 2.1 million plays and 393,800 likes in one week (shown below, right).

Later in January 2024, TikTokers began using the sound of CHIO CHICANO's cipher for memes. For instance, on January 11th, 2024, TikToker[6] @daphzzn posted a video of himself with text reading, "When I'm doing a math test but EVIL KIM LIP shows up in the building," gaining over 1.3 million plays and 327,500 likes in five days (shown below, left).
On January 14th, TikToker[7] @le3slix posted a video with the sound, showing herself with text about writing "hoodnight" instead of "goodnight," receiving over 1.1 million plays and 339,100 likes in two days (shown below, right).
