Ey Mercedes is a video of man yelling at a Mercedes car assistant, where each time the man mispronounces Mercedes, a Vine thud sound effect plays, and a crashed Mercedes shows up. The video was uploaded to the Petrol Weeb YouTube channel in May 2022, but he is not the original author of the edited video.

Origin

The origins of the video are unknown and the following information is speculated:

Relying on a comment in the YouTube video of someone who apparently understands the man, it is presumed the man in the video is from Napoli and is speaking Neapolitan. He is inside a Mercedes-Benz and is trying to issue pointless voice commands to the car built-in assistant, however it doesn't understand the man. This could be due to the yelling, the fact the commands aren't real car commands, or because the Italian assistant doesn't understand Neapolitan.
It could even be assumed the original unedited video, was an advertisement for the car dealership the man names several times during the video.

Nevertheless according to google trends, the edited video appears to have garnered some popularity back in July 2021, which seems to confirm a close origin date, given the edited video includes a photo of the Valteri Bottas crashed F1 Mercedes in Imola,^[1] which happened in April 18th 2021.^[2]

Based on the video description, it is assumed that the meme has initially spread inside automotive or gaming Discord servers, who found funny the way the man mispronunced "Mercedes".

Youtube Open Spread

On May 22nd, 2022, YouTuber^[3] Petrol Weeb uploaded a video titled, "Ey Mercedes" only garnering a meager 15,000 views over the course of three years. However it seems the meme is still popular and known within certain Discord servers and communities, as it is still used to mock Mercedes cars.^[4]
The information available in video description and comments, is the only source of information about the origin of the video known at time of writing.
