Give A Ni$$a A Break or Give A Nigga A Break refers to a song by internet personality Froggy Fresh, real name Tyler Cassidy, in which he repeatedly says the N-word while singing the music's chorus and playing piano. The satirical song was posted on YouTube in September 2019 but only gained viral attention as a caption meme video in November 2024 after TikTok started to add overlay texts and relatable captions using Cassidy's singing clip as a backing track to skits.

Origin

On September 3rd, 2019, YouTuber[1] Froggy Fresh, real name Tyler Cassidy, uploaded the song "Give A Ni$$a A Break," in which he complains about the hardships in his life, singing on the chorus "Give a nigga a break, how much more can I take?" The song (seen below) amassed more than 2 million views and 80,000 likes in five years.

The popularity of "Give A Ni$$a A Break" surged on social media platforms in early November 2024, particularly TikTok, where users began sharing clips of themselves dancing, lip-syncing and reacting to the song. For example, on November 21st, 2024, TikTok[2] user @sheikhhussain0491 added the text "When my mom tells me to do literally anything" over Tyler Cassidy's singing clip (seen below), which amassed over 614,000 plays and 51,000 likes in two weeks.

Also on November 21st, TikTok[3] user @raninaniii uploaded the same clip, adding the text overlay "me everytime he confronts me about the reposts I made to make him mad." The video (seen below) garnered more than 2.6 million plays and 600,000 likes in two weeks.
