Good Morning Beautiful Ladies, Ugly Bitches Go Back to Bed refers to a popular social media catchphrase in which a person wishes good morning to good-looking followers and scoffs at unattractive ones. Used since 2010, the phrase spawned image macros and has been parodied, regaining popularity in 2020 as Good Morning X, The Rest Of Y'all Gm I Guess snowclone.

Origin

While the exact first use of the catchphrase is unknown, the earliest recorded post in which a person greeted "beautiful ladies" and told "ugly ones" to go to bed was made by Twitter^[1] user @MaxSoWavy on January 14th, 2010 (repost shown below, left). On March 2nd, 2010, Twitter user @PrettyBoSlim made a similar tweet which became viral , with reposts by multiple Twitter^[2][3][4] user made on the same day (tweet no longer available, reposts shown below, right).

Spread

Starting in 2010, the catchphrase has been regularly reused on Twitter and other social media, with a number of posts^[5][6] going viral (example post shown below, left). On May 18th, 2014, Instagram^[7] user big_lou_hp posted the earliest found image macro based on the catchphrase (shown below, right). A July 14th, 2014, repost by Instagram^[8] page lagrandedelabanda received over 530 likes in six years.

Starting in 2015, the catchphrase, altered to "Good Morning All You Sexy Fuckers! You Ugly Bastards Keep Scrolling, I'm Not Talking to You" gained popularity in image macros, primarily on Facebook and Instagram. For example, on February 6th, 2016, Facebook^[9] page Put On Your Sassy Pants reposted a Kermit image macro that received over 110 reactions and 1,800 shares in four years (shown below, left).

The catchphrase did not see spread as a snowclone until early 2020. Prior to January 19th, 2020, an unknown user made a Foot Fetish post based on the catchphrase. On January 19th, 2020, Instagram^[10] user benisblaster made the earliest viral repost of the image, gaining over 3,000 likes in nine months (better quality repost shown below).

In January and February 2020, the image was actively circulated online with viral reposts on Instagram,^[11] Tumblr^[12] and Facebook.^[13] On April 18th, 2020, Twitter^[14] user @okaishawty made the earliest known post which used the post as snowclone, with the tweet gaining over 60 retweets and 620 likes (shown below).

Starting approximately in early July 2020, the post gained widespread popularity as a snowclone, with viral memes in which a person gives a warm welcome to a certain group of people while giving a cold shoulder to the rest being posted on Reddit,^[15][16] iFunny^[17] and other platforms.
